A Ju 88 Pilot's Diary

The very personal story of a young man who was a true aviator with no political connection to the Nazi regime and how he was drawn into WWII against his will. He gives a very interesting account of life for the pilots and aircrews of the bombers used to wage Blitzkrieg in an easy to read style. It contains lots of detail about the experience of flying particular aircraft, especially the Ju-88. He is very derogatory of the officious German air force non-pilot 'managers' and the poor quality pilots that get into the air force after war is declared. I appreciate the narratives like this as it puts a human face on the people that are at the heart of the academic studies I am involved with concerning WWII combat analysis.
